Dan is a teen currently suffering from moderate cannabis intoxication. He’s been through a rough time with his recent expulsion from school and his father committing suicide. Despite these traumatic experiences, Dan denies that they affect him, claiming he is “fine.” Throughout the interview, however, he later admits that he uses pot primarily for anxiety and that when he’s not using, he feels stressed out with school, his mom’s expectations, and generally with everything. Dan admits that he is depressed and using marijuana helps him cope with his loss and get through the day. In addition, Dan is fearful that he may be having visions like his father had, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

In the first of three DVDs, Dan’s case is the first subject within addiction and substance use, specifically in this case, cannabis use among adolescents.
